North East Charity empowers businesses with autism inclusivity toolkits

The North East Autism Society (NEAS) is offering free toolkits to help businesses create more inclusive environments for autistic and neurodivergent employees.

The charity, based at the Drum Industrial Estate, has launched the practical resources designed to promote autism acceptance and provide businesses with the tools to support neurodivergent staff effectively.

John Phillipson, chief executive of NEAS, said: “These toolkits are packed with valuable information about autism and neurodiversity, along with practical guidance on supporting autistic employees. Our goal is to ensure that autistic people have the best possible experience in the workplace.”

The employers’ toolkit includes insights into equality legislation, advice on making reasonable adjustments, and practical strategies for fostering a more neurodiverse-friendly workplace.

Along with a toolkit for schools, it has been released ahead of Autism Acceptance Week, an annual campaign to promote understanding and inclusion. This year, Autism Acceptance Week runs from 31 March to 6 April.

The toolkit is available for free download from the charity’s website.
