Heel & Toe Children’s Charity expands hydrotherapy centre services
After three years of strategic planning and fundraising, Heel & Toe Children’s Charity has completed a significant expansion to its purpose-built Hydrotherapy Centre in Perkinsville.
The newly extended facility, located near the Drum Industrial Park, will now offer additional services to children with physical disabilities and complex needs across the North East.
The charity also has a centre in Pelton which provides land-based therapy including Conductive Education, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Massage Therapy.
The Hydrotherapy Centre initially had a sole purpose of providing aquatic therapy to children with physical disabilities and complex needs in the North East, but thanks to funding from grant providers and local businesses, has extended the building to offer Re-bound Therapy, an innovative form of exercise therapy using a sunken trampoline.
As a charity that receives no government funding, Heel & Toe relies entirely on donations and community support to sustain its vital work. It is appealing to local businesses and individuals to help ensure the new Re-bound Therapy service can be fully implemented and maintained.
Mandy Hammond, Community Fundraiser, said: “We’re thrilled to introduce Re-bound Therapy, however, to fully implement and continue providing this service we need the ongoing help of local businesses and individuals. Every contribution makes a real difference.”
