ITPS Launches 24/7 Security Operations Centre to tackle rising cyber threats

North East organisations can now take advantage of a combination of 24/7 IT support and next generation cyber security services on their doorstep, with the recent launch of tech specialist ITPS’s security operations centre (SOC) on the Drum Industrial Estate in Chester le Street.

An extension of ITPS’s traditional support service which sees a dedicated team working 24/7, the new SOC typifies a new breed of intelligent support which is powered by the latest AI and machine learning capabilities, and backed by an expert, round the clock cyber security team of analysts and engineers.

ITPS’s Head of SOC Sarah Hibbert explains: “Cyber security is now the biggest threat to organisations, with half of them having experienced some form of breach or attack in the last 12 months.

We designed the SOC after discussions with our customers around exactly what they wanted. They’ve welcomed it as a logical extension of our 24/7 support service and it’s proving to be invaluable by giving them eyes on glass, round the clock protection.”

The move comes as part of the industry shift towards using intelligent tools to take support services to the next level by using developing technology.

“It’s no exaggeration to say that automation is transforming the management of IT support and security operations,” says Sarah.

“Time is of the essence and using the latest intelligent tools mean rather than having cyber security analysts manually detect, triage and contain a breach, with automation we can do this within 90 seconds.

Once an attack has been stopped in its tracks our team of expert analysts, threat hunters and engineers are on hand to examine all the information around the attack and report back on potential improvements to security.

The combination of 24/7 support and our new SOC is a game-changer for clients looking to boost the accuracy and speed of threat detection and response. The fact that services are scalable is particularly attractive for small to medium sized organisations. They tend to assume they’re not as likely to be targeted in a cyber attack as large companies, but that’s very much not the case. They are actually seen as an easier target, being part of supply chains that offer hackers a back door into more valuable organisations.

Every organisation is now vulnerable to cyber attack and business interruption, and the threat will only increase so we’re pleased to be able to bring this 24/7 service to businesses in the region.”
